ANXIETY: A painful or apprehensive uneasiness of mind
over an impending or anticipated situation or ill, fearful concern or interest,
an abnormal and overwhelming sense of apprehension and fear often marked by
physiological signs (sweating, muscle tension, increased pulse/heartbeat, palpitations,
headache, fatigue, inability to relax, headaches, irritability, sleep disturbances and shortness of breath), by doubt
concerning the reality and nature of a threat, and by self-doubt about one’s
capacity to cope. Worry, anxiety, fear and depression interfere with the normal function of the nervous systems
of the heart, lungs, stomach, and intestines. It has been reported that about 80% of our illnesses are related to uncontrolled stress, anxiety and depression in our lives.
Self Help – meditation, deep abdominal (shavasana) breathing (sahaj pranayama), guided imagery, QiGong, Yoga, TM, (any of the choices under the mind, body, spirit page of this site, whichever is best for you and your lifestyle).
Exercise regularly, try journaling, make personal time to relax, listen to music. Don't proscrastinate, hide or run away from your
concerns. Implement one or more of these activites into your weekly schedule. All of these modalities will teach you how
to take control of your breath, instead of it controlling you!!!! Try Ishnan and see if it works for you. Increase your
Vitamin B intake through the foods you eat or in supplements. In time your mind, body and spirit WILL feel a difference.. Remember your spirit! |

Aggravation of the vata dosha. There are several pranayamas
that are excellent for anxiety (Sahaj, shavasana, bhramari, ujjayi are only a few). Many of the asanas will strengthen the abdominal muscles to facilitate more
effective and complete exhalation (eliminating more toxins from your lungs). Bathe: 1/3 cup ginger, 1/3 cup baking soda. Add to a tubful of
water for 10-15 minutes. Massage Oils: sesame for vata, sunflower or coconut oil for pitta, corn oil for kapha. Sohium meditation. Corpse pose for ten
minutes, breathe slowly through your nose, use your diaphragm to suck air into your lungs, then continue to inhale as deeply as
possible. Reverse this process when you breath out. Contract your abdomen while exhaling slowly and completely and due this several
times. Drink: Almond milk
with a little ginger, nutmeg and saffron. "Ishnan" or a (cold shower) will clean and increase circulation in the body, flush the internal organs and reduce blood
pressure. It will contract muscles to eliminate toxins and poisonous wastes thus strengthening
the parasympathetic, sympathetic nervous systems along with the mucous membranes and assist in the resistance of allergies, colds and coughs. |
