GOUT: Swelling, inflammation and very painful joints often in the toes and feet. It is generally caused by a buildup of crystallized uric acid, stress or some BP medications. May be accompanied with a high fever, and repeat attacks can cause damaged bones.

Self Help(1) a low purine diet is recommended. (2) Drink/eat black cherries/juice for 1-4 weeks until resolved. (3) Be Patient!!!

Nutrition
High protein foods cause elevated
uric acids (Avoid: caffeine, meats, alcohol, shellfish, sardines, kidney beans). Drink 6-8 glass of water or more a day. Eat: alfalfa, leafy greens, carrots, celery, kale, parsley, watercress, seaweeds, wheatgrass, black cherries, apples, lemons, pears, pineapple, strawberries, green beans, dandelion greens, turnip, leeks, cabbage.

Massage Oils: Marigold, peppermint, lavender, chamomile, geranium. Poultice: comfrey & marigold. Compress: Plantain or ginger. Tinctures: celery root w/seeds, yarrow or gravel root. Herbs: Wall germander, burdock root, dandelion root, devils claw, horsetail, juniper, kelp, psyllium seed, yucca, fenugreek seeds, gentain root, hydrangea (leaves & root). Oat Straw tea in bath water.

Naturopathic Ascorbate vitamin C w/bioflavonoids and rutin, B complex w/B6 and pantothenic acid, liquid K with vitamin E and niacin, glycine. Cal Magnesium, vitamin A, aloe vera juice or white birch mineral water, Green drinks w/potassium, kelp, burdock. Nettle eliminates poisons. Teas: celery seed, wintergreen.
