HOT FLASHES: Are caused by the hormonal changes of menopause. A diminished level of estrogen has a direct
effect on the hypothalamus, the part of the brain responsible for controlling your appetite, sleep cycles, sex hormones
and body temperature. A reduction in the production of estrogen can cause hot flashes which are a flush of heat in the
upper body (often the face), reddening of the skin and profuse perspiration which can last from a few seconds to
fifteen minutes.
Self Help: Black Cohosh extract (1-2 drops, 2-3 times per day up to the recommended amount on the bottle)
start off with small doses and increase according to your response. Consume wild and/or mexican yams (red), and soy products
(be careful some can be allergic to soy). Research has shown that Oriental woman do not experience hot flashes with
the same frequency as western women, largely because of their diet of soy products. Exercise regularly
at least 20-30 minutes, 3 times per week, try yoga (Kundalini). Reduce stress.
This is the time for creating balance in your life.
