TMJ: Can be caused by the mal-alignment of the teeth, jaws and muscles. The
symptoms of this condition varies and can include pain, clicking, grating sounds, difficulty opening the mouth wide.
If your syumptoms are more severe in the morning and ease during the day it could perhaps be rheumatoid arthritis. Another
cause of this condition could be a displaced disc, stress and some other form of mis-alignment of the ligaments in and
around the tempomandibular joint areas.

Often a deficiency of qi in the liver, gall bladder
and or kidney meridian. Needling can be accompanied with the use of moxibustion (the herb mugwort) which can enhance

Nutrition |
Diet: Should include lightly streamed vegetables, fresh
fruits (especially pineapple), whole grains, white protein, brown rice, homemade soups and breads. Eat more sulfur
containing foods (asparagus, eggs, garlic, onions). Sulfur repairs bone, cartilage and connective tissues and aids
absorption of calcium. Avoid: sugar, white flour, junk foods, candy, colas, pies, pastries, fast foods, alcohol
and caffeine. Do not chew gum. Do a fast at least once a month. |

Western |
St. John's Wort, camp bark, bue violet, catnip, chamomile, hops, kava kava,
lobelia, passionflower, thyme, skullcap, raspberry, valerian root, wild lettuce. Feverfew, ginger and white willow bark are good for
pain. Nettle leaf is anti-inflammatory in nature. |

Holistic |
Craniosacral therapy, biofeedback, body work such
as massage therapy, and biological dentistry which is bioenergetic medicine and can include neural therapy,
oral acupuncture, cold laser therapy, homeopathy, mouth
balancing and nutrition. Sleep: on your back to give your back, neck and shoulders plenty of rest. Experiment with
heat and cold therapy especially for pai in the neck and shoulders. Avoid: over the counter medications and
decongestants - they are loaded with stimulants. Stress Management with heat and muscle relaxants often relieve
the symptoms of TMJ. Physical therapy utilizing tongue and jaw exercises to retain stressed muscles and/or transcutanour
nerve stimulaton (TENS), ultrasound, electrogalvanic stimulation are all possibilities. |

Causticum, Hypericum performatum, Ignatia, Kalmia,
Magnesia phos., Rhus tox., Ruta graveolens. Remedies are dispensed upon specific associated symptoms. |
